Successful start of the DEMAG Research Factory on 27th of May 2019: In the anniversary year of the company's foundation, another milestone in the history of innovation is reached at the Wetter site. With the opening of the DEMAG Research Factory, a laboratory is in operation, preparing the networked production world of tomorrow.
Originating from the OPTIMUM project funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, the idea of installing a research facility in Wetter was born. The DEMAG Research Factory is open to all developers within the Group as well as to the Consortium partners who work with us on research projects such as OPTIMUM.
The Project Managers Anja Fischer and Giuliano Persico organized the realization in months of preparation and with great support from colleagues and external partners. Anja Fischer: 'Only five months after the investment approval we can celebrate the opening. This is the grandiose achievement of a large team, to whom we would like to say a heartfelt 'thank you' at this opening ceremony. This also includes the dedicated performance of the apprentices, who contributed to the opening ceremony with their collaborative robot.'
Commenting on the launch of the Research Factory, Carolin Paulus, Managing Director of DEMAG Cranes & Components, said: 'OPTIMUM is particularly important for us because the DEMAG Research Factory stands for everything that will continue to make the DEMAG business and the Konecranes Group successful in the future.
